Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 13, 2026. Last reviewed: October 19, 2026.
This Privacy Policy describes how Law Office of Stephen Spurgeon, LLC (“the Firm,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use https://www.stephenspurgeon.com (the “Website”). It was written for this Firm and this Website. If you have questions, contact us at stephen@stephenspurgeon.com or 1 (318) 616-5677.
Definitions
- Firm means Law Office of Stephen Spurgeon, LLC, 140 WINDERMERE BLVD STE A, ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA 71303.
- Website means https://www.stephenspurgeon.com and its subpages.
- Personal Data means information that identifies or could reasonably identify you.
- You means the individual using the Website.
Information we collect
Information you provide. When you use the call-back request form, the intake assistant (Gavin), a guide download form, or the email updates signup, we collect what you enter: typically your name, email, phone number, city and parish, the type of matter, and any description you choose to write. The call-back form also has an optional box to receive occasional emails from the Firm; it is unchecked unless you check it.
Intake assistant conversations. Messages you exchange with Gavin are stored so the attorney and staff can review them. If you share a phone number or email address and leave the chat before it is finished, the conversation is still sent to the attorney as an inquiry so the office can follow up. That does not sign you up for emails from the Firm. Gavin is an automated system, identifies itself as one, and is not a lawyer. It does not give legal advice.
Technical information. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and reliability. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits; it does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors. We do not use advertising trackers, and the Website does not load Google tracking code.
How we use information
- To respond to your inquiry by phone or email, schedule an appointment, and evaluate whether the Firm can represent you, including a conflicts check.
- To send the guide or email updates you requested.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Website.
- To comply with legal and professional obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
Confidentiality and the attorney-client relationship
Submitting information through the Website does not create an attorney-client relationship. The Firm treats information from prospective clients as confidential, consistent with Rule 1.18 of the Louisiana Rules of Professional Conduct. Even so, please share only what is needed for a first conversation (who was involved, what happened, and when) and save sensitive details, such as medical records or account numbers, until you speak with the Firm.
Service providers
We share Personal Data only with the providers that run the Website and our communications, each limited to that purpose, and when required by law or court order:
- Vercel: website hosting, server logs, and visit counts.
- Supabase: the database that stores inquiries, intake conversations, and email signups.
- Our email provider: delivers notices to the Firm and the emails you request.
- Anthropic: provides the AI model behind Gavin. Your messages are sent to Anthropic to generate replies and, if you leave a chat before it is finished, to summarize it for the attorney. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use them to train its models; it may keep them for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring.
Retention
Inquiry and intake records are kept as long as reasonably necessary to evaluate the matter and to meet professional recordkeeping and conflict-checking obligations. Email signups are kept until you unsubscribe; after that we keep only a record that you opted out, so you are not added back by mistake.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any guide or update email from the Firm, or by emailing stephen@stephenspurgeon.com. Unsubscribing also withdraws the optional email consent on the call-back form.
- Access, correction, or deletion. Email stephen@stephenspurgeon.com to ask for a copy of your Personal Data, to correct it, or to delete it. We will respond within a reasonable time, subject to legal and professional obligations to keep certain records.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers. Access is limited to the attorney, authorized staff, and the Firm's website administrator, who maintains these systems for the Firm. No method of transmission is perfectly secure; if your information is sensitive, call the office instead of submitting it online. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as Louisiana law requires (La. R.S. 51:3071 et seq.).
Children
The Website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. A parent or guardian may contact the Firm about a child's legal matter.
Changes
We may update this policy. The dates at the top show the current version.
